CODES OF CONDUCT

PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT

As part of my commitment to play for Ironmen Baseball this season, I commit myself to the following expectations and responsibilities:

  1. I will be on time, and arrive dressed appropriately and be ready to go when the coach asks me to be ready. If something unexpected arises causing me to be late or miss, I will communicate with the coach asap.
  2. I will attend all practices and games unless I am sick, or have communicated with the coaching staff about an unavoidable absence.
  3. I will not argue with umpires. I acknowledge that umpires will always make bad calls and I will not argue or show negative emotion towards an umpire.
  4. I will not use foul language, alcohol, or tobacco, and I will not bring sunflower seeds into the indoor facilities at any time.
  5. I will not throw equipment in frustration under any circumstance.
  6. I will learn, know, and trust the Ironmen Baseball system. Ironmen Baseball takes the big picture perspective and focuses on the fundamentals of the game as taught at the highest levels of the game. I will not only learn the system taught by my coaches, but I will trust that the system is designed for my best interest on and off the field.
  7. I will commit to staying positive. I will not criticize, complain, or make excuses. I will always fight to stay positive in the midst of failures, disappointments, and challenges I encounter.
  8. I will put the team first, always and in all ways. I will be a good teammate and always do what is best for the team. I believe that everyone wins (including myself!) when I make my teammates better.
  9. I will focus on playing baseball, not the opponent. I will spend my energy and effort on developing my skills and abilities as a player and do my best to help my team improve throughout the season.
  10. I will hustle at all times on the baseball field, including but not limited to running to and from my position, off the field after making an out, and hustling in between drills and stations at practices.
  11. I commit to make every effort to become the best I am capable of becoming. This is true success. I know that if I do everything I can to become the best player I am capable of becoming, I will have no regrets and will have achieved my potential.
PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT

As part of my commitment to have my son play for Ironmen Baseball Club this season, I commit myself to the following expectations and responsibilities:

  1. I understand and endorse the purpose of our organization: as iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
  2. I will prioritize the long-term development of my son as a player and person above on-the-field results.
  3. I commit to know and trust the Ironmen Baseball program. Ironmen Baseball takes the big picture perspective and focuses on the fundamentals of the game as taught at every level. I will not only encourage my son to learn the program taught by Ironmen Baseball coaches, but I will trust that the program is designed for my son’s best interest on and off the field.
  4. I commit to affirming my son and his teammates when good character, healthy sportsmanship, and other-centered behavior are displayed. I will not affirm only his athletic performance or victory.
  5. I will serve as a role model for our players, talking politely and acting courteously toward coaches, umpires, other parents, visiting team parents, and spectators at practices, games, and meetings.
  6. I will not argue with umpires. I acknowledge that umpires will always make bad calls and I will not argue or show negative emotion towards an umpire.
  7. I will model good sportsmanship. I commit to acknowledging and applauding the efforts of team members and opponents. I will model what it looks like to win and lose with class and I will support the team regardless of what the win-loss record is.
  8. When problems or questions arise, I will encourage my son to present the problem to his coach. Players need to develop self-advocacy. After meeting with his coach, if the issue requires more clarity, I will contact Matt Williams.
  9. I understand and accept that Ironmen Baseball takes its commitment to its players seriously, and asks the same from its players and families.
  10. I understand that Ironmen Baseball Club reserves the right to suspend and/ or remove my son from his team if he violates the expectations of the Players’ Code of Conduct or I violate the expectations of this contract.
COACH CODE OF CONDUCT

As part of my commitment to coach for Ironmen Baseball this season, I commit myself to the following expectations and responsibilities:

  1. I understand and endorse the purpose of our organization: as iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
  2. I commit to going through the Coaching With Purpose system and developing my own Coaching With Purpose statement.
  3. I will learn, know, trust, and implement the Ironmen Baseball system because I trust that it is designed for the best interest of all Ironmen players, both on and off the field.
  4. I commit to attending the Ironmen Baseball Coaches Meetings.
  5. I will be mindful never to shame a player, but to correct him in an uplifting way.
  6. I will protect my players and be big enough to build up players, not tear them down. Players are facing pressures from all areas of life and we may not know what they are dealing with away from our club.
  7. I will remember that my job as a coach is to put my players in a position where they can develop to their fullest potential through proper teaching and guidance.
  8. I will believe in every player. Every player is a part of our baseball family and deserves every chance to succeed and I will treat each player with the utmost respect.
  9. I will approach every practice prepared. I will bring with me all equipment and practice plans necessary for a productive practice, both indoors and outdoors.
  10. I will approach all games prepared. I will bring with me all equipment, most notably a clicker for pitch counts, a clip board to post line ups, line up cards for umpires, game balls, and/or anything else necessary to effectively manage my team.
  11. I will be on time.
  12. I will not argue with umpires. I acknowledge that umpires will always make mistakes and I will not argue or show negative emotion towards an umpire.
  13. I will not use foul language, use tobacco, or use alcohol at any Ironmen Baseball game or practice. I understand that a violation of this provision may subject me to immediate termination from my coaching position.
  14. I will model what it looks like to win and lose with class.
